Meals on Wheels – Home Delivered Meals
As the Meals on Wheels provider for Washington County we provide home delivered meals to senior citizens who qualify.
Who qualifies for Meals on Wheels?
Individual must be 60 years of age or older
Agree to an assessment conducted in their home. Southern Illinois Visiting Nurses Association (SIVNA) conducts the assessment and determines if client meets eligibility requirements
No client who qualifies for services will be denied meals based on their ability to pay
Payment is voluntary and the suggested donation per meal is $6.00
Interested individuals can call our office to complete the referral form or complete the form found on our website.
Meals on Wheels FactsLast year we served 7,535 congregate meals and 22,917 home delivered meals
We run 5 daily routes serving Okawville, Nashville, New Minden, Hoyleton, Covington, Addieville, Oakdale and Elkton
We run two routes weekly serving DuBois, Radom, Ashley, Richview and Irvington. These clients receive one hot meal and four frozen meals for the week.

Congregate In-Person Dining
We offer lunch Monday through Friday at our Okawville and Nashville locations. Lunch is served at noon and monthly menus are available on our website, our Facebook page and in our facility.
We do ask you call to reserve your lunch 24 hours in advance. -
Activities
We offer a variety of activities at our Okawville location including:
Pinochle tournament on Tuesdays
Euchre tournament on Thursdays
Tai Chi exercise class Monday mornings, chair yoga on Wednesday morning
Line Dance class once a month
Bingo once a month on Wednesday
Live music! RSVP Country Band, RSVP Orchestra, The Polka Connection
We have cornhole boards, dominoes and a puzzle is always in progress
Halloween costume contest, Christmas party and monthly birthday celebrations
Informational speakers on a variety of topics including fraud and scam protection & legal issues

Medicare
Medicare counseling with trained and certified Senior Health Insurance Program counselors. Whether you are new to Medicare or shopping for plans during open enrollment our counselors can guide you through the process.

Benefit Access
Process applications for Benefit Access to receive a discounted license plate sticker. To be eligible clients must meet the following criteria:
Be 65 years old or older OR if under age 65, receiving disability or SSI
Single person have annual income of no more than $33,562
Two-person household annual income of no more than $44,544
Three-person household annual income of no more than $55,500
Call our office for additional information or to make an appointment.

Transportation
Our agency assists clients with transportation to appointments, shopping, etc. Please give as much notice as possible and make appointments between 8am-3pm; Monday through Friday.
If appointments can not be made during this timeframe, please call and we will try and accommodate requests.

AARP Foundation Tax Aide
Our Okawville location is the only AARP Foundation Tax Aide site in Washington County. Volunteers, who are trained, IRS certified counselors provide free assistance and filing of federal and state taxes. Counselors are on site one day per week during tax season. Interested clients must call to make an appointment.
